- Second- and third-generation Hungarians who no longer speak Hungarian but remain connected to the country

Founded with roots in Budapest and Debrecen and operating with a national focus, HBN exists to provide fair, neutral, and accessible reporting on Hungary.

Our mission is simple:
To provide balanced, well-sourced, and accessible reporting about Hungary for the global Hungarian community.
Hungary’s information ecosystem can be complex and politically polarized. Note that HBN does not align with political parties, lobbying groups, or state entities. Our goal is clarity, not ideology.

The platform may expand structurally in the future, but at present it operates as an independent editorial initiative.
Audience Focus
We recognize that Hungary’s diaspora is substantial:
- Significant labour movement into Austria
- Large communities in the UK
- Strong presence in Canada (especially Toronto)
- Hungarian communities across Germany and other EU states
The combined figure is estimated to be up to 1,000,000 Hungarians.
This is in addition to the Ethnic Hungarians in neighbouring countries ~1.8 – 2 Million, many of whom are eligible to vote.
Many individuals remain voters and stakeholders in Hungary’s future, even if they no longer reside there permanently or even born in Hungary (perhaps 2nd or third generation) and don’t even speak Hungarian.
HBN aims to serve as a neutral bridge between Hungary and its global community.
